boohoo - khaki dress up challenge ♥

Today is a pinch me moment. After attending my first Boohoo press event almost 4 years ago, I am so thrilled that I have collaborated with Boohoo for the first time with this blog post. The Boohoo team contacted me a few weeks ago and I was pretty excited when I saw the email land in my inbox. I was given the task of trying on a dress from the Boohoo prom range and I had to try and dress it up or dress it down. Now we all know I love to dress extra and over the top so I decided to accept the challenge. I picked the Gia Bandeau Bandage Midi Bodycon Dress* and I fell in love with the design straight away.
Grey Faux Fur Coat - RoseGal*
I haven't worn bandage material for years but I love that the midi length makes the dress very current and modern. I think every girl needs a basic midi dress in their wardrobe and a bandage fabric can certainly make your clothes suitable for evening drinks with the girls or a late night dinner date. I think fabric plays a pretty big role in how you can style an outfit and the quality of this Boohoo dress is simply stunning.
I decided to add a grey faux fur coat to finish this look. I personally think a faux fur coat is a stylish and trendy way to dress up an outfit and I think the grey dress matched the khaki midi dress perfectly.  I especially love the faux fur hood, it really reminds me of a 00's Jennifer Lopez outfit during the 'Jenny from the block' period. The dress fits me like a glove and I love that the fabric holds your curves in to create an hourglass effect. I don't have a tiny, tiny waist but I love that the dress compliments my hips and bust area.
I was so impressed when I tried the dress on for the first time because I didn't expect the style to fit me this well. Now for my shoes and bag, I wanted to stick to a nude colour palette. We all know I like a very simple and subtle shoe style so my classic strap heels made an appearance for today's blog post. If you are looking for something different, gold heels would look amazing with this dress or try wearing a pair of classic nude stilettos.
I simply cannot praise this dress enough, I just think everyone needs a classic midi dress because they are so easy to wear and so flattering. If you are not very keen to jump on the khaki train, Boohoo also have the dress available in black, rust and sand colours. Now if you wanted to make this dress slightly more casual, I would swap the faux fur coat for a large black jacket and grab a classic, black tote bag. I think larger bags can really tone down an outfit and make it more wearable.
For the bag I used in the photos, I tried to find a bag that looked similar to a medium sized Mulberry Lily bag, I think the gold chain is more than enough to dress up this outfit and I didn't want to take the attention away from the dress by wearing lots of jewellery either. What do you think of this Boohoo look? I would love to know how you would style this dress! I really loved styling this outfit and the faux fur coat is certainly useful for the current January weather. What colour dress would you choose from the Boohoo prom dress page? ♥
