I am in a very chatty mood today and I was feeling pretty down about my blog yesterday. For me, I feel better when I write and although I have achieved amazing things with Fairytale Kiss, I do try to run before I can walk. I have said many times how much I struggle taking photos, yes they have improved dramatically from last year but I want to create higher quality content. For today's post, I wanted to talk about my tips for improving blog photos and how to be cost effective.
I personally don't think you need to spend a fortune on blog props, if you know where to look, you can find gorgeous items that can add extra definition to your photos. I was feeling pretty down about my blog photos and although it is easy to compare yourself to other, I want to create content that I am proud of. I have always known my own personal style and I am very particular with what I like and what I don't like. I hope that when I write a new blog post, my readers will know the sort of images I will be sharing. From bold leopard print boots to sequin covered evening gowns, we all know I love a mixture of bold fabrics.
That being said, I wish I could have this confidence when it comes to taking product photos. Instead of worrying about my photos I decided to pop into Poundland and TK Maxx and I found countless items that would make pretty amazing blog props. I found a white marble cheeseboard (similar) that will look great over a faux fur coat and I think little details like this make blog photos stand out. I also found marble coasters from Poundland (similar) and adding a coaster to your photo and then placing some jewellery or flower petals on top can really make a difference.

Outfit wise, I was heading to have dinner with the girls and I took inspiration from this photo of Kim and this Instagram post. I don't have a fitted Balmain blazer (sob), but I did find this leather trench coat in my wardrobe. I wanted this to be the main focus of my outfit so I kept the top and skirt black and let the necklace and coat do the talking. You can see the full coat here. I look like an extra from Blade or The Matrix but I cannot resist a long, statement coat. You can find the PLT necklace here. So for my new attitude when it comes to taking photos, I will be using my new blog props this week so keep your eyes peeled. What tips do you have for taking photos? What do you think about a bold leather coat? ♥
