#tiptalk - decluttering your bedroom ♥

Rat and Boa floral dress - similar   |    Heeled boots - similar
This year I am making a conscious effort to try new styles - even if they don't necessarily work for me. I am usually wearing tight, fitted outfits so floaty, floral dresses are uncharted territory to me but for this mini photo shoot, I wanted to make an exception. This gorgeous floral dress from Rat and Boa is a wardrobe favourite for me because I love thin, mesh material and the two high splits in the fabric gives this dress a fun and edgy twist. For today's blog post I wanted to share with you my latest outfit, inspired by the Chelsea in Bloom Flower Show and I also wanted to talk to you about my current wardrobe situation.
While Ollie is in Australia for the next week, I am determined to spend some time with my wardrobe and I wanted to give my clothing rail a detox. I am guilty of being a massive pack rat and I literally have clothes falling down from my shelves. I will be putting together a big bag for charity and selling the rest at my local boot sale but most importantly, I want to get rid of most of my clothes. I have far too many and I can't seem to step foot into my bedroom anymore. I thought it would be fun to talk about my tips for creating space in your bedroom and I think this will be a great blog post for me to read and remind myself for the future!
I have watched quite a few videos online and I have also read some helpful articles about organising your room. I actually popped into Ikea to buy some black boxes, this has been a massive help for me because I have rounded up all of my shoes and popped them in the boxes and popped them on top of my wardrobe. The only thing is, I have shoes bulging out of them so tonight I will be going through the shoes and sorting out what ones I wear and what ones I don't wear. I have heard quite a few times that if you haven't worn something in the past year, it is best to throw it away.
Now, I am going to stretch this rule to one to two years because I know I'll get more wear out of my shoes and clothes if I can find them hanging up neatly in my wardrobe, rather than stacked and hidden in my shelves. Space is a big problem for me because I only have one room which is not that big so I need to make the most of the space I have. After I moved all of my shoes to the boxes, I have 4 big drawers under my bed so I will be putting my basic t-shirts, leggings and gym clothing in here. I love the idea of rounding up my clothes depending on the category. It makes things a lot easier to find.
I can also get distracted really easily so I will be putting my Spotify account on shuffle while I sit down and focus on one area of my room, otherwise I know I will be scrolling on Instagram and the Daily Mail for hours - I really am my own worst enemy. I have found a few instrumental Disney playlist on Youtube which is a lovely background noise to tidy to. Not only will I remove any distractions but focusing on my box, shelf or wardrobe will help me stay focused and I am not going to create any maybe piles when it comes to organising my clothes. I either keep the item or get rid of it. Being stricter with your routine is the perfect method for organising your own space and I am very guilty of becoming distracted or not wanting to bin anything, 'just incase'. I hope these tips have been helpful and I will keep you updated with how my bedrooms turns out. What tips do you have for decluttering your house?

  1. I think it is wonderful that you are constantly pushing yourself outside of your go-to styles. That flowy dress is absolutely gorgeous.
